Is it possible it just doesn't receive signal very well? I'm using a now 4-5 year old base model Dell. And if I plug my computer in it immediately gets 60-70 mbps, so I know I'm getting good speed from my provider. The results are consistent regardless of where I am in the house, even if I'm standing right by the router. It's gotten better, but not massively better. I did some wifi analyzers and moved around channels to reduce interference.

I've read through the wikis and stuff on this page. And I'm only on DSL, so the difference between 3 and 30 is a lot more than cable where it might be 30 to 300. During the day, I can put my laptop using wifi right next to my phone and my phone will consistently get speeds about 8-10X faster than my computer (my LTE is disconnected, so I know it's wifi). u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
